Pit Map App Agreement

Version 2026-07-13. This agreement combines the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. By creating an account, signing in, or using Pit Map App you agree to it.

Terms of Service

1. The service

Pit Map App is a web application for laying out tents, structures, roads, and other objects on satellite imagery, saving those maps, sharing them with collaborators, and exporting them. The service is provided by the operator of Pit Map App (“we”, “us”).

2. Accounts

You need an account to create maps. You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep your email address current. You must be legally able to enter into this agreement.

3. Subscriptions and billing

Creating and managing your own maps requires a paid subscription. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. Prices are shown before you subscribe and may change with notice — a price change takes effect at your next renewal.

4. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel any time from the billing portal (Profile → Manage subscription). Cancelling stops future renewals; your subscription remains active until the end of the period already paid for. Except where required by law, payments already made are not refunded.

5. Your content

Maps, logos, and other content you create or upload remain yours. You grant us the limited rights needed to operate the service: storing your content, displaying it to you and to people you share it with, and processing it to provide features such as exports. If you make a map public or share a link, anyone with that link can view it — sharing is under your control.

6. Acceptable use

Don’t misuse the service. That includes: breaking the law, infringing others’ rights, uploading malicious code, attempting to access other users’ data, reselling access, or putting unreasonable load on the service. Map imagery and place-search data come from third-party providers and their terms also apply to their data.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available and your data safe, but the service is provided without uptime guarantees. Features may change or be improved over time. Export your maps (Export → Map backup) whenever you want an offline copy.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Satellite imagery and measurements are approximations — verify anything safety-critical on the ground. Pit Map App is a planning aid, not a survey tool.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

10. Termination

You may stop using the service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates this agreement. On termination we may delete your content after a reasonable period; export anything you want to keep.

11. Changes to this agreement

We may update this agreement from time to time. The version date at the top identifies the current version; material changes will be flagged in the app. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated agreement.

12. Contact

Questions about this agreement or the service: contact the operator at the support email shown in the app.

Privacy Policy

What we collect

How we use it

Only to provide and operate the service: authenticating you, storing and syncing your maps, processing your subscription, showing shared maps to the people you shared them with, and keeping the service secure. We do not sell your data.

Third-party services

The service is built on: Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, hosting), Stripe (payments and the billing portal), satellite/map imagery tile providers, and place-search services (Photon/Komoot and OpenStreetMap Nominatim) which receive the place names you search for. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.

Sharing and visibility

Your maps are private by default: only you, and the people you explicitly share with, can see them. Public view links, join links, and parking links make the specific map they point to readable by anyone who has the link — creating those links is always your action.

Retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. To delete your account and its data, contact support; billing records that we are legally required to retain (e.g. invoices) are kept as required.

Your rights

You can access your maps at any time and export them (Export → Map backup). You may request a copy or deletion of your personal data by contacting support.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the version date above changes and the app will flag it.
